In 2004, LA Tool & Die was formed with two objectives in mind:
a) To have a good time.
b) To make goofy pop songs.
The band's first CD, Fashion for the Evildoer, achieved both goals, filled to the brim as it was with fun songs about indie rock, falling in love, and video games!
Their sophomore release, The Last Thorn of Summer, still embodies some of these principles. But even as many of the songs recall the happy go-lucky band of yore, the musicians themselves have changed over the course of the years. And so has the music.
The result is still lovely indie pop embodying the band's original intent, but there is maturity in the sound that has come from experience, love, and loss. And in this manner, this maturation process, The Last Thorn of Summer will hopefully surprise fans of Fashion for the Evildoer. It sure surprised the band.
